Every Decaud for Mac release: what changed, when, and the SHA-256 checksum of its installer.

Decaud.dmg always gets you the current version. Historical installers are not hosted, but every checksum stays listed forever: if you downloaded Decaud earlier and a newer version has since shipped, you can still verify the copy you have. In Terminal, run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Decaud.dmg and the output must match your version's checksum, byte for byte. A machine-readable list lives at releases.json, and release notes are subscribable as RSS: no account, no tracking, the feed is the whole subscription.

A refreshed welcome and first-run Home introduce your library, TrueHz and Audio Path.
Clearer TrueHz results and explanations distinguish analysis findings, uncertainty and results needing reanalysis.

iPhone and iPad

Copy songs and folders from USB or SD drives into local storage for offline listening, with available-space checks before large imports.
Interrupted USB imports can be retried after reconnecting the drive. Playback continues during copying, and completion messages clear without freezing the iPad interface.
A new three-page welcome introduces your collection, TrueHz and Audio Path using the Decaud website identity, readable copy and consistent page layouts.
Home makes the choice between local copies, iCloud and connected-drive playback clearer. Library, Collections and Settings share the refreshed appearance. Continue Listening has a readable card surface, and Library and Collections keep their headers aligned while the menus scroll.
Now Playing shows source and output information that opens Audio Path with a tap. The player remains scrollable without a visible scroll indicator.
Headphone Correction and track information fit smaller screens more reliably, with clearer alignment and scrollable content.
TrueHz distinguishes positive, inconclusive, older and unanalyzed results. Labels describe spectral evidence without claiming to prove a recording's origin.
The TrueHz explanation covers sampled analysis, decoded DSD and heuristic bitrate estimates. Now Playing shows an analyzed quality tier only for a settled result.
Batch-analysis guidance identifies tempo, key and tuning estimates as Mac features. The DSD & Hi-Res shelf and NativeDSD Starter Pack credit use clearer wording.
Artist lists use singular album and song counts where appropriate. The Songs table can infer a missing disc total from the album without changing file tags.
Turning off iCloud sync now hides cloud-only music on iPhone and iPad while keeping downloaded music and available local sources visible. Your catalog, ratings and playlists are preserved.
With iCloud sync off, Continue Listening hides paused songs that aren’t available to play on this device. Music copied onto the device remains available.

NativeDSD Starter Pack on iPhone and iPad: a complimentary DSD64 sampler of seven tracks, courtesy of NativeDSD in a Decaud edition, offered as a shelf on Home; each track downloads from NativeDSD's own server into the phone's own storage with progress on the row, plays offline, is offered again if removed, and downloads locally; uploading to iCloud is optional
NativeDSD Starter Pack on the Mac: a card on the dashboard and a pack screen in the detail column, laid out like an album page; downloads land in the Imports folder and join the library like any other file, and the Direct edition plays them as native DSD over DoP
Native DSD on iPhone: an opt-in switch under Settings ▸ Audio Output sends DSD as DoP to a USB DAC you have confirmed supports it, through a direct USB audio path with the iPhone volume at 100% and listening volume on the DAC; the Audio Path inspector states that path plainly
DSD on iPhone plays correctly from files stored on the phone, and DSD files no longer read as an unknown format on their labels
Fur: an experimental visualizer on Mac and iPhone, off by default behind an Experimental switch in Settings that states its graphics cost; seven shapes and six colors chosen separately or shuffled together, motion that winds down in silence and stays still under Reduce Motion, drawing that pauses while hidden, and a watchdog that recovers the picture if it ever stalls
Scope on iPhone: Now Playing gains a Scope pane between Lyrics and AirPlay that reaches the spectrum, the goniometer, the meters and Fur; its controls live in the overflow menu, full screen shows the object alone, and the AirPlay glyph is drawn to the size of its neighbours
Direct edition updates move to a new update chain: install this release by hand from the website once, and updates arrive automatically from then on
Audio Path: the Output value wraps flush right, after its separator
Native DSD files keep their own sample rate and bit depth in the library: playing a DSD file no longer rewrites its row with the decoded PCM rate, and Update Audio Format Info in Settings repairs rows that were already rewritten
Get Info for a DSD file shows both the source format and what it was analyzed as, on separate rows, so a DSD64 file reads as DSD64 and its 88.2 kHz analysis is labelled as such
Switching the output device while a DoP stream is playing or paused resumes correctly on the new device, with the playing state preserved
Apple TV joins Decaud: browse albums, artists, songs and playlists, stream readable files from a paired Mac or a compatible DLNA server, and see lyrics and Audio Path in Now Playing
Apple TV includes an optional offline demo library with three fictional albums and twelve short tracks; it stays separate from the synced library and can be removed in Settings
Apple TV offers explicit iCloud downloads even while a Mac is connected, plus album and bulk download removal; removing the playing album clears Now Playing, and an interrupted Mac connection keeps the selection ready to reconnect
Apple TV visualizers are available behind Experimental Features, off by default; the timeline supports scrubbing, and Info offers album and artist shortcuts
Sort As fields order Songs, Albums, Artists and Composers in the app and sync across devices, including intentional clears; CarPlay continues to sort by the displayed name
Artist photos and biographies use stricter identity matching, with unambiguous article and punctuation variants, to reduce unrelated results
Saved audio analysis survives rating, favorite and play-count changes, and DSD source labels keep their original rate; Flat is the default analyzer scale while saved choices are preserved
Library browsing gains refreshed Home counts, working Home search, column-browser header shortcuts and corrected playlist counts; declined remote-control requests no longer repeatedly prompt

Album Versions: the same album in several editions is grouped, reviewed and given a primary; formats are stated per edition and no format is called better on its own
Import Activity window (Option Command A) tracks imports, splits, and metadata passes, with progress, results, and cancellation of remaining work, plus a Review Split Compilations repair
Format evidence everywhere: badges read FLAC 24/96, DSD64 or AAC 256 with a green check only when TrueHz verified the file, a dashed est. when not, and a red mark for transcodes
The Now Playing rail is a ledger: one plain sentence about where the audio goes (Bit-perfect to, Processed for, Reduced for) above the measurements, and one transport on screen at a time
TrueHz report in ink: encoder cutoff, Nyquist and lossy fingerprint stated as measurements, with the dead zone hatched
DSD files record their native rate, so DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256 read correctly on badges, album chips, the rail and Album Versions; Update Audio Format Info now runs on a selection from the context menu
Songs gains a Genre, Artist and Album column browser and a header census of formats and verified songs
Server Mode: one switch for an always-on library Mac turns on remote control and library sharing, keeps the Mac awake and starts Decaud at login, with honest status if the login item cannot be registered or removed
Automatic daily catalog backups, manual snapshots and restore without copying audio files
Synology and NAS service folders (@eaDir) are excluded from every import walk
Channel counts are stored per song, so stereo and multichannel editions are told apart

iPhone: favorite artists, an Artists filter, a search field under every title, a fixed A to Z index, calmer song rows that show formats on request, and Remote as its own screen with an Exit
iPhone: large libraries stay responsive; sync arrives in pages, lists load off the main thread, and a song that fails to start never plays under another name
Artist photos and bios (opt in) from Wikipedia and Discogs, with face-anchored banners and a carousel on the artist page; turning photos off hides them everywhere
Multi-genre: every genre a song carries is read, listed and filterable by set membership, and edited with a token field including add and remove across a selection
The Audio Path inspector, Settings as a ledger with Locations, and a restorable welcome on first launch
Sync only what changed: catalog pushes skip unchanged records and back off when iCloud asks, so a large library no longer stalls the app
Fixes unexpectedly quiet PCM playback after shared-mode listening on supported DoP DACs in exclusive mode: the DAC's USB feature-unit level is restored to full on every exclusive start, PCM included

TrueHz quality analysis: verify that a file is genuinely lossless, not an upsampled fake. [Later correction: TrueHz reads sampled windows across a track for spectral evidence consistent with lossy compression or upsampling. It cannot establish provenance, and spectral evidence alone cannot prove that a file was upsampled.]
